13.  How Far Will They Go?

Wars do not stop with propaganda.  Typically, the aggressor continues his warfare until he is defeated, or until he concludes that there is no prospect of victory.  The question becomes, How far will the enemy go?  The answer can be seen both in Biblical history and in events of the present day.

In the days of Nero, evil men burned the city of Rome.  The Christian community within Rome was falsely accused for these acts of arson and murder.  Rather than seeking out and punishing the criminals, Roman authorities declared Christianity illegal.

Could this happen today?  Would the enemies of Christ Jesus go that far in their attempts to stamp out the Christian faith?  The book entitled "By Way of Deception:  The Making of a Mossad Officer," by Victor Ostrovsky and Claire Hoy, answers the question in the affirmative.  The book is a chronicle of ruthless, covert activities committed around the world by the Israeli Mossad--the secret police of the Palestinian Jewish state--against those they deem a threat to Zionism.

The doctrine which once bore the label Identity poses a threat to Zionism.  Jewish forces began with a propaganda war against Identity.  However, the hypocrisy of the propaganda has become increasingly and glaringly obvious, and thus the propaganda war is quickly losing its effectiveness.

For example, if Jerry Falwell says the Jews are the Israelites of the Bible, no one calls him a Jewish supremacist or bigot, but if Pastor Peters publicly challenges him on this (which I have), stating that there has been a case of mistaken identity, then the media calls Pastor Peters a white supremacist and a bigot.  If the Jews want to live in the middle east apart from other peoples, the media never calls them Jewish separatists or racists.  Even when the Jews pass laws allowing Jews to carry guns while forbidding the same right to Arabs, the media never labels them right wing extremists or radicals.  Christians are beginning to awaken to this obvious hypocrisy.

So now what?  In the past our enemies have attempted to associate us--Christians who believe the Israel truth--with racists, Nazis, skinheads, and the KKK.  Of course, such attempted association is both irresponsible and malicious.  Now, our enemies are attempting to associate us with murder and attempted murder.

In August of 1999, a man named Buford Furrow allegedly attempted to murder a number of Jewish children at a Jewish Center.  The leading national newspaper, USA Today, attempted to link this crime to Identity.  This was a clear case of the "hook" method.

To illustrate the hook method, consider a hypothetical news release on the Oklahoma bombing and Timothy McVeigh.  "OKLAHOMA BOMBER HAS TIES TO THE VATICAN.  A Douay Bible was found in Timothy McVeigh's get-away car, with a book mark in the book of Judges.  The book of Judges is one of the most violent and bloody history books in the Bible.  The Douay Bible is a Roman Catholic translation, and McVeigh--a professing Roman Catholic--is a past student of a Roman Catholic parochial school.  The Pope has refused to comment, but his aids adamantly insist their's is not a religion of violence.  Roman Catholicism has long been the subject of conspiracy theories which allege that Jesuit priests desire to destroy Protestants by any means possible."

The USA Today article was of interest to me because it used the hook method and because the article hooked this writer.  In part, the article read, "SHOOTING SUSPECT HAD TIES TO WHITE SUPREMACISTS'There is a battle being fought this day between the children of darkness (today known as the Jews) and the children of light...the Aryan Race'--from a list of beliefs on the Internet web site of Aryan Nations, a white supremacist group.  The violent explosion at the North Valley Jewish Community Center seems to have sprung straight from the racist, anti-Semitic theology of the white supremacist movement.  Christian Identity teachings are embraced to varying degrees across the white supremacist world.  Proponents include such key figures as Pete Peters, pastor of the LaPorte (Colo) Church of Christ." [28]

(I might state at this point to other preachers of other Churches of Christ:  Don't think the same things can't happen to you and other Christian preachers.  Don't think that our enemies intend to stop with me.  It is best to take a stand immediately against the persecution of any Christian, before the persecution spreads to all Christians.)

In view of such irresponsible media propaganda and downright lies, is it any wonder that the major media sources are losing credibility in the eyes of the general public?  This loss of credibility is reflected in the fact that one of the most frequently accessed Internet web sites today is that of an alternative news source--The World Net Daily.

Inasmuch as leftist hate groups, in their persecution of truth and of Christians who embrace truth, continually portray Christians as criminals, one must ask whether they will not take the next step--that of committing crimes in order to falsely implicate Christians.  After all, the ploy has worked before; consider the burning of Rome, which was falsely blamed upon the Christian community living in Rome.

We do know for a fact that Jewish Synagogues have been defaced by Jews themselves, and that "white supremacists" have been blamed.  Rabbi Daniel Lapin addresses this phenomenon, and how it is used for propaganda purposes.  He says, "...newspapers frequently splash news of a bomb threat or defacement of a synagogue on their front pages.  When the bomb threat turns out to be from a disturbed Jew rather than from a neo-Nazi, that fact is left for the back of the paper." [29]

So the facts answer the question.  Yes, anti-Christs will commit crimes and then blame Christians.  It stands to reason that they will also employ others to commit crimes.  This writer is in no way saying that such is the case with the alleged murderer Buford Oneal Furrow, nor am I saying such is not the case.  There has been much speculation concerning Furrow.  Some say that he is the product of the covert MK-ULTRA mind control project; others say that he is a under-cover agent; still others believe him to be a hate-filled "white supremacist."  One thing is certain:  the man is not a Christian, for a true Christian follows the teachings of the Bible.  Consider the following passage of Scripture:  "By no means let any of you suffer as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler; but if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not feel ashamed, but in that name let him glorify God," I Peter 4:15-16.

To give another example, a few years ago, a man named Larry Harris showed up on the conservative talk show scene.  Harris was promoting himself and his writings on biological warfare.  He contacted me and wanted to be on my radio program.  I refused him, because it was glaringly obvious that, while ostensibly warning people of the possibility of terrorist acts involving biological warfare, he was, in fact, promoting the commission of such acts.  Then one day I saw on a national TV news broadcast that Larry Harris had been arrested on a charge of possessing a dangerous biological substance.  As the TV cameras centered in on him, Harris blurted out his claim to be a member of an Identity church.  How can an attempt to falsely assign blame be any more obvious?  The behavior demonstrated by this Larry Harris fits the pattern of the "agent provocateur"--a wolf in sheeps' clothing who attempts to provoke or incite a violent response among peace-loving people.
