Thought for
the Day #162
ONE OF MANY
PARTS

For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have
the same function, 5 so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and
individually members one of another.
God's Kingdom is beyond our ability to number. His promise to Abraham has
surely come to pass. His descendants are as impossible to count as the sands of
the sea. We are a part of something big. The house of
We know that we are to
be useful citizens of his kingdom. Our concern for the many kinds of need and
the ministry to meet them can be overwhelming. Our abilities, time and energy
are limited. Sometimes we find ourselves in a position of feeling deserted or
alone, trying to accomplish far more than we are able.
How can we do it all? We can't! God does not intend for us to try to do it all.
He has given each member in his Kingdom specific gifts and responsibilities.
The scripture above reminds us that we are just one part of his huge household.
Each of us has a very particular assignment in His great kingdom. We are part
of his whole body. Each member of the body has its particular purpose and
function.
God has equipped us to function very efficiently in his body. We must remember
that an eye doesn't make a very good foot, nor does a hand make a very good
ear. The secret of having effective and fulfilling ministry is found through
functioning in the purpose God created us to perform. Most of us try to serve
in his kingdom by doing something assigned to another member. We become
enamored with a function that seems to be so obviously important. We forget
that there are many elements involved in a successful kingdom.
Let us allow the King of the kingdom to assign us to duty. He knows exactly
where and how we fit. The Holy Spirit will give us ability and understanding.
We can be very successful and happy in serving Him daily.
It takes many parts to make a whole body. Remember that we are but one of that many, and, the other members of the Kingdom are also part of
us.
Every part is absolutely necessary. To function as God intends, he needs us
all. He has specifically designed us for his purpose. Each of us is very
important to Him and to each other.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for choosing me to be part of your
kingdom. I want to serve you well. Help me to fit into the place you have
prepared for me. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
