Proverbs 20:18 speaks of a vision which is a number word for
a dream: Where there is no vision the
people perish JKV. One man disguised
as a Christian, though the record seems to show he never once made a public
profession of Jesus Christ, once made An I Have a Dream
Speech. A speech the idol makers and media moguls or media-ites put in the minds of all people and made famous. At the time the speechmaker proclaimed
himself as a sort of self made prophet for his people but the strange thing is
in a spellcasting type way it's been put in the minds
of other people that is wrong for a prophet of their own to have a dream or
vision for God's people. Remember
people, the Word of God says without a vision the people perish or put another
way without a dream that people perish.
Abraham, clear back in Genesis when he was still Abram had a
vision, a revelation, a prophecy given to him that
caused him to dream. Dream
of a country for his people. A country all their own. And the LORD said to Abram, after Lot had
separated from him, "Now lift up your eyes and look from the place where
you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward; 15 for all the land
which you see, I will give it to you and to your descendants forever. 16 And I
will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if anyone can
number the dust of the earth, then your descendants can also be numbered. 17
Arise, walk about the land through its length and breadth; for I will give it
to you." Gen 13:14-18
God made good on his promise and Abraham took him at his
word and Abrahams descendents took what was given to
them in the only way one can take anything from God that he offers. God's people have once again got to
understand God's idea of giving. Understand
that his giving requires our taking what is given. When you take what God gives, you take it by
force. The force of
faith which requires a bit of a fight.
A fight of faith. Now
it came about after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD that the LORD
spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' servant, saying, 2 "Moses My
servant is dead; now therefore arise, cross this Jordan, you and all this
people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel. 3 Every
place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I
spoke to Moses. Josh 1:1-4
One could almost see Joshua thinking or saying: What do you mean your Lord? I don't know if you've noticed or not that
there's a big overflowing flooding river between us and that land called the
Jordan and in that land there are these big bad old Giants and high walled
fortified cities with weapon there that I've heard said are so powerful they
can do all sorts of things. Bad things. Big bad things. God's
reply: so? So take it-by faith!
What God gives has to be taken by faith and faith itself
requires a vision. Faith is, as
Scripture says, the substance of things
hoped for the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). It is faith when you hope for what is not at
that moment a tangible substance, a substance that you can feel, hear, taste,
touch or see, when it's just in your mind and heart the place of goals and
desires the seedbed place of dreams and vision.
Without it the people perish. Without
it God's people perish.
